In the Hisense Europe Sustainability Report for 2024, we present progress
across key areas of sustainable development. Over the past year, we
strengthened the use of renewable energy sources, improved the safety of
production processes, obtained new international management system
certifications, developed solutions for more efficient resource use, and
enhanced cooperation with suppliers and local communities. Special attention
was also devoted to increasing transparency in emissions reporting.
"Amid all challenges, our sustainability strategy –
crafted in 2023 and rooted in the lessons of prior years – has
laid the foundation for meaningful progress, and 2024 marks
the year of its active implementation," said Hanson Han, Hisense Europe CEO. Our activities in 2024 thus focused on improving energy efficiency, reducing
environmental impacts, and managing social and economic aspects of our
operations responsibly. We recognize that sustainable change requires long-term
commitment and continuous improvement. At Hisense Europe, we remain dedicated
to achieving tangible and measurable results.
Use of renewable energy sources
We established new solar power plants in Velenje with a total capacity of 5.3
MW, covering approximately 12 percent of the industrial complex's energy needs.
This represents an important contribution to reducing our carbon footprint and
decarbonizing production processes.
Improvement of production process safety
We introduced a safer chroming process by switching to trivalent chromium,
significantly reducing the impact on the environment and employee health. This
change marks an important step towards more sustainable and safer production
practices.
New certifications: SA8000 and ISO 50001
We obtained the SA8000 certification in the field of social responsibility and
the ISO 50001 certification for energy management. These achievements confirm
our efforts to improve working conditions and optimize energy consumption
within production processes.
Water reuse in production
By launching experimental processes for water reuse in production, we are
exploring new ways to reduce the consumption of natural resources. Pilot
projects already show promising potential for further optimizations in the
coming years.
Increasing the sustainability of materials and packaging
We continued the transition to the use of recycled materials in our products
and introduced alternative packaging solutions. Through these efforts, we
support the principles of a circular economy and reduce the environmental
impact of our operations.
Support for local communities
In 2024, we continued to support local communities through various donation
initiatives. Our commitment to local environments is reflected in projects that
contribute to improving the quality of life in the communities where we
operate.
Sustainable supply chain management
We conducted our first systematic sustainability due diligence reviews with
suppliers and awarded the first recognitions to top-performing suppliers. By
doing so, we promote sustainable practices beyond the boundaries of our own
operations and foster responsible partnerships.
In line with our commitment to transparency, both the Sustainability Report
and the carbon footprint calculation for Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions were
externally verified for the first time. This milestone further strengthens the
credibility of our reporting and our accountability to stakeholders.
Regardless of the evolving standards in sustainability reporting, at
Hisense Europe we remain committed to transparent, credible, and responsible
communication about our impacts and progress.
