For 2025, Hisense Europe group has received the highest score in the annual EcoVadis assessment - the platinum award for its company Gorenje - the manufacturer of household appliances under the Gorenje, Hisense and Asko brands. This places Gorenje among the world's most successful companies in the field of responsible and sustainable business. Out of more than 150,000 companies assessed by EcoVadis worldwide, as we have been ranked in the top 1 percent of companies. This achievement reflects the dedication and commitment of Hisense Europe and Gorenje to promoting sustainability, not only as a value, but as a core part of their operations.
The Leading Sustainability Standard in the Business World
EcoVadis is a leading corporate sustainability assessor, having assessed the environmental, social, and ethical performance of companies in global supply chains since 2007. The certification process involves an in-depth assessment of a company's policies, practices, and performance, which is then scored and ranked twice: against its peers in the industry and against all companies assessed. The assessment process is extremely rigorous, which is why the EcoVadis is recognized as the leading sustainability standard in the business world, providing companies with valuable feedback on their sustainability efforts and opportunities for improvement.
Consistently moving up in the sustainability ranking
The EcoVadis recognition is nothing new for Gorenje, as we have already received silver awards in 2023 and 2024. Additional sustainability efforts in the last year have earned us the highest, platinum award for 2025 and the best position compared to our main competitors in the industry.
"The EcoVadis platinum medal is an independent confirmation of our hard and systematic work in the field of sustainable operations. It is a comprehensive assessment of the sustainability of organizations, which includes environmental protection, labor standards, ethics, and sustainable supply chain management. The key to such an assessment is that individual short-term measures or campaigns are not enough; sustainable approaches must be consistently integrated into the company's processes and supported by a clear commitment from top management," explains Urška Butolen, Head of Corporate Sustainability Governance.
Strategic improvements that deliver results
In their assessment, EcoVadis wrote that Gorenje's overall score increased due to the introduction of additional measures from Gorenje's advanced sustainable development strategy, which defines activities in areas that significantly impact our business, the environment, employees, and society as a whole. These are production, products, people, supply chain, sustainable operations, and corporate citizenship.
The fact that Gorenje's sustainability report was verified by a third party, that there was no serious negative news about Gorenje in the media in the last year and that Gorenje is a member of the United Nations Global Compact, the world's largest initiative for sustainable development and corporate social responsibility, also contributed to the company's platinum EcoVadis award. The certificates obtained played a major role in the assessment as well: SA8000 for social responsibility, ISO 14001 for the environmental management system, ISO 50001 for the energy management system, ISO 450001 for the occupational health and safety management system, and inclusion in the EMAS environmental management scheme.
The EcoVadis Platinum Award proves that Gorenje's sustainability efforts are effective, placing us at the very top of the corporate world, not only nationally, but also globally. ''We take pride in having ranked among the top 1 percent of companies with the highest ratings as sustainability is a very broad and complex concept and such a strong result means that we are performing well in all key areas. However, we believe this is just the beginning, a confirmation that we have set the right course, and an incentive to continue building a more sustainable future with even greater momentum," adds Butolen.
