Handball Club Gorenje Velenje Qualifies for the European Champions League 2011

On Saturday, May 22nd 2010, Handball Club Gorenje Velenje celebrated a bitter-sweet victory in the final match of this year's national championship at the Zlatorog Arena in Celje. Despite losing to Gorenje, Celje Pivovarna Laško won the national championship title owing to the substantial lead they had built up prior to the final game. Nevertheless, HC Gorenje Velenje's second place in the league is an excellent result as it means they have qualified for the European Champion's League 2011.

Gorenje Velenje will reinforce their roster with five new players for the 2010/11 season: Janez Gams, David Miklavčič, Željko Musa, Aleksandar Stanojević, and Nikola Manojlović will join the team to pursue a clear ambition: winning the 2011 national championship title.

On Thursday, May 27th 2010, Gorenje handball players celebrated the successful season with a humanitarian exhibition match. Proceeds in the amount of EUR 7,000 will be donated to Velenje kindergarten for playground equipment.
