Gorenje's novelties for a warm and cosy home

Gorenje's novelties for a warm and cosy home
Gorenje Heating Systems program held on Thursday, December 6, 2012 a presentation of their product novelties for 2013. The highlights among the products presented to their business partners included the compact domestic hot water heat pump Gorenje Aerogor Compact and the new generation of medium capacity heat pumps with many updates and improved performances which further enhance the energy efficiency in domestic hot water preparation.

Heat pump AEROGOR Compact – air/water

AEROGOR Compact air/water heat pump with heating power of 6 to 15 kW boasts efficient and economical operation leading to a low annual heating bill, as well as modern controls and the ability to operate in a wide range of outdoor temperatures. Another asset of the heat pump is modern design contributed by the Gorenje Design Studio. The new AEROGOR Compact heat pump is expected in the markets in the second half of 2013.

All key components of the AEROGOR Compact air/water heat pump are located in the outdoor unit (compressor, evaporator, condenser, as well as electric components), which allows simpler and more cost-effective installation and optimization of the space usage in the boiler room. One key difference relative to the heat pump in the split version is the connection between the units: while the connection in conventional heat pumps uses gas, the connection in the compact heat pump uses glycol.

Market share of air/water heat pumps is in steep ascent in recent years and currently amounts to approximately 75%. This is one of the key reasons for our decision to develop the AEROGOR Compact heat pump. Furthermore, the compact heat pump takes up far less space in the boiler or utility room. According to Mr. Darko Gorjup, head of the Gorenje Heating Systems program, »simple and therefore cost-effective design taking up less space and competitive efficiency are certainly the reasons that tip the scales when consumers are deciding whether to invest in a heat pump.«

»Relatively challenging business environment, particularly the considerable drop in investment into durables, compels us to be more dynamic and creative in many fields of our operations. Owing to the launches of new product families excelling with reliability, good performances, modern design, and affordable pricing, we have seen our shares in the 90 markets of Gorenje's operations rise year-in-year-out. We have to be aware of the fact that development and production of a product with the said features only means going about one third of the way. Much more is required for success, including successful presentations of the novelties to the closest Slovenian business partners, like the one we have just completed at the Hotel Paka in Velenje,« explains Mr. Darko Gorjup, head of the Gorenje Heating Systems program

Key characteristics of the AEROGOR Compact air/water heat pump:

  • quality and reliable components guaranteeing a long useful life;
  • efficient and economical operation leading to low annual heating bills;
  • heating power from 6 to 15 kW (subject to A2/W35 conditions), which means it is sufficient for well insulated buildings with heated area of 100 to 300 m2;
  • modern control unit allowing regulation and operation of the heat pump in various operating modes (low-rate, day, night etc.);
  • compact heat pump also allows bivalent operation combined with solar panels, fireplace, or other source of heating;
    modern design.
New Gorenje AEROGOR Compact heat pump allows simple installation and efficient and economical operation that keeps the heating bill low.

Medium-capacity heat pump as an alternative to a conventional water heater

Gorenje's new medium-capacity DHW heat pumps (80 – 120 l) with conventional wall-mounting system are an excellent alternative to a conventional electric water heater. In addition to new modern design, work of the Gorenje Design Studio, new generation heat pumps boast many technological improvements.

»New sanitary heat pumps are fitted with a new rotation compressor that allows better energy usage. Furthermore, conventional condenser unit has been replaced with a new pipe condenser unit wrapped around the outer wall of the tank, which eliminates the hazard of refrigerant entering the water,« Mr. Janez Lipuš, head of development at the Heating Systems program, explained about the key improvement.

The heat pumps also deliver high energy efficiency with the coefficient of performance from 3.7 to 3.9, and so-called low-temperature operation from -7 to +35°C, allowing them to draw the energy or heat from the air both indoors and outdoors through air connections. The heat pumps are fitted with a clearly laid out LCD screen that affords comfortable and clear touch operation and control over all relevant functions.

The compact dimensions and upright wall-mounting design allow installing the heat pump on any spot previously occupied by a conventional electric water heater. The new heat pump water heater retains all the advantages of an electric water heater while adding a plethora of new functionalities and economical use of electric energy characteristic of heat pumps.

SMART water heaters with electronic control

In 2012, Gorenje launched their highly energy efficient and economical OGB SMART water heater. Late in the year, they hit the market with a version of the TGR Smart Simplicity heater with the ECOS function and simpler control, still allowing major energy savings. The advanced intelligent electronic controller monitors the behaviour of the user and after a while automatically calculates the optimum operation pattern, which allows saving up to 25 percent of energy. Owing to this feature, the appliance meets the highest standards of the pending European Directive on energy efficiency of water heating equipment. This will allow Gorenje's water heater program to stand its ground in the challenging European market.
