Gorenje's Celebrates the Europe Day with a Special Installation in the Center of Prague
The EC representation in Czech Republic and the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Prague teamed up to organize on Friday, May 9th, in the Old Town Square (Staromestské námestí) in Prague, a celebration of the Europe Day. Since Slovenia is currently the country presiding over the EU, the celebration was conceived to capture the spirit of Slovenian Day as well. Upon the occasion, Gorenje was presented as the flagship of Slovenian economy, by displaying a collection of its Old Timer Series refrigerators crafted especially for this occasion. The fronts of the appliances feature, respectively, the designs of Slovenian, Czech, and European flag.
The three refrigerators featuring the designs of the three flags that were displayed eventually served as background for the photos taken by passers-by while standing next to the fridge with the flag of the Czech Republic, the EU, or next to Slovenian flag which can be seen fluttering at all major events concerning the EU in this spring. Also exhibited was another special installation of Gorenje household appliances designed by the currently hottest designer of the young generation, Ora-Ïto; these appliances have become the favorite particularly of the young population.
Mr. Suad Hadžič, director of Gorenje Prague: "When the Slovenian embassy in Czech Republic contacted our company with the proposal for cooperation, we decided to take part for several reasons. Above all, we saw a great opportunity to promote our products through the installation; furthermore, we are proud of Slovenian presidency over the EU in this year, since Slovenia is the birthplace of our products. The response of the visitors and passers-by was excellent, an the symbolic value of the flags truly introduced a strong emotional element that contributed to the atmosphere of the Slovenian Day celebration within the Europe Day." The installation will be displayed again on June 25th during the final event upon the conclusion of Slovenia's presidency over the EU.
In addition to Gorenje's installation, Slovenia's presentation on the Europe Day in the center of Prague included an info stand, music band Zeron, and the Lipizzaner horses that drew a lot of attention with their attractive show and a promenade with a carriage through the nearby streets. The passers-by were also offered Slovenian wine and prosciutto. The stand presented brochures describing Slovenian tourist offer and booklets on Slovenian presidency over the EU. The speaker at the festive opening of the Europe Day was Slovenian ambassador Mr. Franc But; the event was attended by several officials of the government of Czech Republic and Prague Municipality, representatives of Slovenian enterprises headquartered in Checz Republic, tourists, and citizens of the Czech capital. Slovenian presentation was endorsed by Gorenje, Horse Stud Lipica, and Pivovarna Laško (Laško Brewery).
