Gorenje takes part in a charity campaign "Together against Breast Cancer" in Moscow
Pink refrigerator with precious ribbon at a charity lottery
This year, Gorenje joined the charity campaign organized each year in Russia by
Avon, as a way of raising funds to fight breast cancer. The campaign included a charity lottery for which Gorenje contributed one of the prizes – a pink retro refrigerator embellished with a precious ribbon made of white gold, contributed again by Zlatarna Celje (the Celje Goldsmiths). A total of EUR 280 thousand was raised by the lottery, and the entire sum will be intended for the purchase of modern diagnostic equipment for oncology centers throughout Russia. Thus far, Gorenje and Zlatarna Celje helped raise over EUR 380 thousand, either through their own auctions of precious pink refrigerators with white gold ribbons or through cooperation in similar projects.
The charity campaign "Together against Breast Cancer" came to a close with a major celebration at the Red Square in Moscow, in front of the Cathedral of Saint Basil the Blessed, followed by a rock concert "Rock against Cancer" at the Luzhniki stadium. Nearly ten thousand people attended the event this year, including numerous Russian celebrities from the world of show business and business. The concert featured popular Russian rock groups.
Gorenje and Zlatarna Celje have been working for two years with the international organization Europa Donna (The European Breast Cancer Coalition) to raise funds for improving breast cancer prevention and awareness, and for upgrading the medical equipment used for early detection of cancerous diseases. Gorenje manufactured especially for this purpose a series of pink retro-style refrigerators and engaged Zlatarna Celje, a Celje-based goldsmith company, to contribute jewelry to embellish these unique appliances – precious ribbons made of white gold, fitted with glittering zircon gems.
The first two successful auctions in Ljubljana and Zagreb were followed by two auctions within the activities of the Pink October, European Breast Cancer Awareness Month, in London and Split, respectively; this year, the story continues with a prominent campaign in cooperation with Avon in Moscow.
This year, two independent charity auctions are planned, one in Sarajevo and the other in Vienna. The funds raised at charity auctions are donated entirely to institutions engaging in fight against breast cancer, and for upgrading the medical equipment used for early detection of cancerous diseases.
