Gorenje congratulates ski jumper Robert Kranjec on winning the small crystal globe
On March 18th, Planica, Slovenia, hosted the last, 33rd event of the season's ski jumping World Cup. The small crystal globe for overall Ski Flying rankings went to Slovenian ski jumper Robert Kranjec. Gorenje Group has been the general sponsor of Slovenian Nordic ski teams for a number of years.
In this year's Ski Jumping World Cup season, Robert Kranjec proved he was among the very best in the world. On February 25th he won the gold medal on the world's biggest hill in Vikersund, Norway, landing at 244 meters, just 2.5 meters short of the world record. On the Slovenian Planica hill which has hosted the final events of each season since the first Ski Jumping World Cup season, Kranjec was outstanding again, winning on March 16th and coming in third two days later to confirm his overall victory in the Ski Flying World Cup rankings, thus winning the small crystal globe. This is his second and the third for Slovenia in the history of the Ski Jumping World Cup.
Slovenian ski jumpers were also successful in the team event. On February 19th, they won in the Ski Flying event on the Oberstdorf hill, Germany; a week later, they won the bronze medal in Norway. In this season, they set a new high for the team in the overall score of the Nation's Cup rankings, finishing fourth with 3,412 points.
Gorenje Group, a traditional general sponsor of Slovenian Nordic ski teams, extends heartfelt congratulations to all competitors upon successful completion of the season.
