Retro refrigerator "Made by Champions" donated
At today's press conference held at the Velenje Gallery which has hosted the "Gorenje with a Vision" exhibition since the start of this summer, the handball club Gorenje Velenje presented the expectations and goals for the new season of the national championship which starts tomorrow. Targets and expectations were also discussed by the team's new members Darko Cingesar, Mitja Nosan, and Luka Dobelšek. They wrapped up the conference by donating a Gorenje retro refrigerator "Made by Champions" which was manufactured with the help of the handball players.
This year's kick-off press conference of the Gorenje Velenje handball club started and ended on a different note as usual – if nothing else, because it was set at the Velenje Gallery. Members of the press, handball players, and club management first took a tour of the exhibition "Gorenje with a Vision", a joint effort by the institute Maribor ECOC 2012, Velenje Gallery, and Gorenje, and a part of the network project "Wow, industry". The exhibition presents the creativity of Gorenje's manufacturing through time, manifest in direct visual communication between the consumers and the industrial design, marketing communication, and visual identity of the company. Presentation of expectations and goals for the new season was concluded by donation of a Gorenje Retro refrigerator "Made by Champions" which was manufactured in May this year with the help of the handball players after they had won the national championship title, during their tour of the Velenje shop floor.
The club's general manager Tomaž Juršič, coach Branko Tamše, team captain Marko Bezjak, and all newly signed players Darko Cingesar, Mitja Nosan, and Luka Dobelšek, said that their goal was to stay where they left off last year, i.e. to defend the title of the national champion. Coach Branko Tamše also explained that »the title is harder to defend than to chase, as every game is a chapter unto itself. One can get burned easily, and we do not want such burns.« Their goals this year include a high ranking in the Champions League.
Luka Dobelšek, returning to the team after four years, commented: »I am back where I have seen my best years of competition. I have not yet won a national championship title with Gorenje and I am excited about the prospects to do so this year.«
