Brief to the Supervisory Board regarding the unannounced strike of Gorenje employees on December 12
The Supervisory Board supports the measures that promptly ended the unannounced strike and minimized the damage incurred.
Gorenje Supervisory Board was presented the Management Board's report on the progress and circumstances of the unannounced strike that took place on December 12, 2012 and as a result of which production was stopped for over four hours. The Board supported the measures that brought the strike quickly to an end and therefore effectively minimized the damage sustained by the company due to the strike. If the unannounced strike had lasted longer, financial and strategic consequences for the company would have been much more serious both in the short and in the long term.
The Supervisory Board also approves of the activities of the company Management Board and trade union to resolve all open issues by the announced deadline. Gorenje is in the midst of restructuring their manufacturing operations and the social agreement to maintain the number of jobs in Slovenia, signed by the Management Board and the trade union in April this year, is an important achievement for the employees; however, both sides are obliged to honour it: the Management Board and the trade union, representing the employees. The unannounced strike and production stoppage on December 12 put the agreement to a major test. It is therefore even more important for both the Management Board and the trade union to honour the obligations specified in the social agreement and to provide the compliance therewith in the future.
