Gorenje receives the Disabled-Friendly Company certificate
At the Days of Professional and Employment Rehabilitation, or the REHA Days, 2017, Gorenje received an award for good practice of hiring disabled persons, and the Disabled-Friendly Company certificate that was presented to the company on behalf of the Ministry of Labour, Family, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities by the Minister Anja Kopač Mrak.
"Recipients of the award for good practice in hiring of disabled persons include companies that have proven that disabled persons, with adequate support and opportunities, are important members of every work team," read the explanation by the Ministry of Labour, Family, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities. The Disabled-Friendly Company certificate is a symbolic gesture of support by the state to the employers who help maintain the hiring of disabled persons in the open labour market.
"Disabled persons at Gorenje are equally included in most work and business processes. Despite the increasing number of disabled persons, which is largely a result of higher average age of employees, we work hard to see that everyone has a suitable job. Our social enterprise Gorenje I.P.C. plays a big part in this respect," explained Karmen Pušnik, assistant to executive director for human resources and general affairs, who received the award on behalf of Gorenje. "Gorenje has a pronouncedly market focus, but we are nevertheless aware of the importance of investing into our employees among whom there are, at Gorenje d.d., also 6.6 percent of disabled persons. To us, this is a value and we are pleased that this has been recognized."
At the same time, Gorenje's Medical Leave Team and projects like Workplace Ergonomics, Health Promotion etc. seek to raise the awareness of our employees, especially the young, about the importance of care for their health, and to encourage them to maintain a healthy lifestyle. At the same time, we also care for the awareness of our employees about accepting diversity, and encourage them to assist the disabled persons, as this allows everyone to contribute equally to the success of the entire enterprise.
